Techsmith Relay: Now in your Canvas course!
What's coming to Canvas in the Spring 2018 Semester?
New Gradebook: Instructors are able to opt-in to a revised gradebook in Canvas. The new gradebook design is based on several years of instructor feedback and features new options for sorting, filtering, and organizing your course's grade information. To enable the feature, go to your course's settings and turn on "New Gradebook" in the Feature Options tab. This article explains the new gradebook in greater detail: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13333-canvas-release-new-gradebook.

New Canvas Feature: Student Context Cards
The latest Canvas production release (2/18/17) includes several new enhancements. The most useful addition, however, might be Student Context Cards. These cards can be accessed from the “People” tab in your canvas course or other locations where students’ names appear as a link (such as discussion replies). These context cards provide instructors with a snapshot of how each student is performing in a course.
Digital Literacy in Higher Education
The New Media Consortium recently released a strategic Brief on digital literacy in higher education via its website: http://www.nmc.org/news/nmc-releases-horizon-project-strategic-brief-on-digital-literacy/. The concept of digital literacy has been difficult to define, especially across disciplines, but this NMC brief takes on the task, provides exemplars of institutions implementing digital literacy initiatives, and recommends steps institutions can take to improve the digital literacy of their students.
